Kids across the Riverina are expected to fill the Wagga Wagga Botanic Gardens Precinct later this month as the Spring Jam children’s festival returns to entertain families during the school holidays.

The free family event will kick off on Saturday, 23 September, with children being invited to get active, take on puzzles and develop skills in creative workshops organised by local and surrounding artists.

Audiences will be enchanted by the friendly and educational beats performed live by ARIA-nominated Australian children’s band The Vegetable Plot and dynamic music duo Whistle & Trick.

Wagga Wagga City Council destination and events coordinator Kimberly Parker said the curated festival would be packed with activities for kids and their families.

“We are excited to bring a program of vibrant adventure play and interactive fun to entertain and educate visitors and the community,” Ms Parker said.

Roving performers will be wandering through the festival interacting with families, and sharing playful encounters.

“Junkyard Beats will also join the other roving performers, bringing a blend of dance, comedy and creative recycling into a one-of-a-kind performance,” Ms Parker said.

“You’ll be amazed at the way they transform everyday objects into an extraordinary musical instrument.”

The Wagga Wagga Zoo and Aviary will also be open to the public, with several fan-favourite animals making their way down to the festival, accompanied by zookeepers who will give expert information.

Children and their families will be allowed to get up close and personal with the animals and feed and pat them.

All of the excitement will kick off at 10 am, with families being encouraged to pack a picnic or enjoy one of the many mobile food outlets that will be available.
