Beau Ryan loves the people of Wagga. Image: @therealbeauryan/Instagram.

Beau Ryan is a former professional rugby league footballer who played for the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks and the Wests Tigers. He now hosts The Amazing Race on Channel 10.

We say Beau is the Energizer Bunny – one of the biggest bundles of energy to light up a room. If he makes our ‘Top Aussies to Have a Beer With’ list, it will be a quick beer, as his attention span is not as long as it takes to drink a schooner. Absolute heart of gold!

Do you have a connection to the Region? What and when was your last visit?

I haven’t been there for a few years but I always love driving through the Riverina. The last time we were there it was extremely green. I grew up in Wollongong and the Riverina reminds me so much of my hometown. I love how the farmlands meet the city. And country people are the best type of people!

Favourite part of the region?

Wagga Wagga is always special. Love the community vibe it has and the people are salt of the earth. The coffee is fantastic.

What was your best food experience?

Le Brooks Cafe in Wagga Wagga. Lovely cafe food, wonderful service and a real homely vibe.

What’s a “must-do” when in the region?

Visit Le Brooks Cafe; also go down and watch a local game of rugby league – go and see the Kangaroos at McDonalds Park.

Drive or fly?

Drive, 100 per cent.

What are your three go-to songs on the road trip to the region?

Mariah Carey – We Belong Together, Morgan Wallen – Chasin’ You, Sam Feldt – Show Me Love (EDX remix to get me hyped)

Name one person you would not want in the passenger seat for the drive?

My mum. Look, I love my mum but she freaks out when we go in tunnels and we would have to take the long way to the Riverina.

Name anyone dead or alive you would want in the passenger seat for the drive?

Dave Chapelle would keep me entertained.

Do you bring your own pillows?

No.

Why should someone who hasn’t visited here make the trip?

The people you meet are the reason the place is sensational.
