JANUARY 4: The search for a swimmer who bystanders thought did not resurface after going underwater in the Murrumbidgee River last week has concluded.
Officers from Riverina Police District began searching the water and surrounding area, with assistance from the Volunteer Rescue Association, NSW SES and NSW Ambulance, including the helicopter and swift water rescue on 27 December.
Police and the VRA have conducted twice daily patrols of the river for the past seven days but no one has been found.
As a result, the search was called off today (4 January). No one has been reported missing to police.
DECEMBER 30: Police are continuing to search for a swimmer who reportedly failed to resurface from the water three of days ago, despite not receiving any reports of a missing person.
A spokesperson for NSW Police said they were still searching the site twice a day but would not say for how long this would continue.
Emergency services began searching for a man who reportedly did not resurface while swimming in the Murrumbidgee River on Tuesday night, 27 December.
The man was allegedly seen to submerge under the water and not resurface at Wagga Beach at about 8.30 pm.
