Who are you and what is your business? Patrina Roberts from Studio on Sunshine in Junee. We are a handmade boutique.

Where did you begin? For as long as I could pick up a pencil, I guess I’ve been creating.

What do you produce? It’s a mixed bag of things. All different genres including anything from artwork, wood burning, drawing to paintings to weaving.

Where can we buy your products? Here at 89 Lorne Street in Junee.

What should we buy for gifts this Christmas? I would say something sustainable, something that’s going to weather through the Christmas trends and be something practical for people. I think that’s the thing this year, and we’ve tried to do that with our decorations as well so people can sort of, you know, buy something that’s going to last.

What’s your favourite product that you make? I love big paintings but my (palm) husk art that I’m doing at the moment, that’s probably where my head and my heart is at the moment. So I love doing that.

What would you make if you could do anything? I miss doing the big, big paintings. Think canvases around about 1.2 metres. I absolutely love doing them. I get a lot out of that. I pour a lot into them and it just makes me feel good.

How would you promote the Riverina? I would just say to get out there and have a look and see what’s available, see what’s on show. There’s just so much that we offer in our region.

What’s your favourite coffee spot? My favourite coffee spot in Wagga is the Brew in Coleman Street near my old school. I like their chai. And here in Junee, the Mersh (Commercial Hotel) in the cafe there they do a beautiful, nice strong chai for me when I need one.

Coolest local thing you’ve ever bought? Hmmm. Maybe something vintage? Or something I’ve made? I make more than I buy, does that make sense?

Who is another local producer you admire? I’ve got so many! It’s hard to choose from any of my 35 people. Maybe Sarah from Sew Cute? She’s a really hard worker and does beautiful children’s clothing.

What do you want for Christmas? Customers. I want customers. I really want people to come and buy handmade and buy local small business products rather than buying from the big chain stores.

You can call in and says g’day to Patrina at the Studio on Sunshine on Lorne Street in Junee or check out the Facebook page here.

Region Riverina is committed to celebrating our local producers and creatives and encourages everyone to buy local.
