Who is Jade Jordan? I’m the owner and manager of White Rose Cafe in Temora. I moved to Temora when I was about two, and I did all my schooling here.
Favourite cuisine: I like all food.
Best recent dining experience: Das Melzer here in Temora. They do amazing food.
Most embarrassing pantry item: My pantry is pretty standard. There is nothing strange in there.
What ingredient can I not live without? Probably salt.
Best coffee spot in Temora: Definitely the White Rose.
What’s your coffee blend? Dimattina from Melbourne.
Next big thing in the Temora food scene: We have so many coffee bars and eateries in town … probably a drive-through coffee other than McDonald’s. I think that would probably be the next biggest thing.
A must-try on our menu: Our hamburgers.
My biggest culinary influence: My grandma.
Favourite cookbook: I don’t have one, but I like the Woman’s Day old-school ones.
Who do I admire in the Temora food and wine scene? Josh from Das Melzer. He’s one of our local chefs, and he’s amazing.
What are this week’s specials at White Rose Cafe? We do a $10 special, and they’re all homemade. It ranges from rissole with mash and veg, lasagne, salad, and quiche, and we also do chicken schnitzel with chips and gravy.
Death row meal: Probably roast lamb.
My least favourite food: Anything too spicy.
My COVID-19 response: It was pretty crazy. We were lucky to be here. We didn’t have to fully close and went to takeaway only for a little while. We survived and made it stronger.
My top three cooking tips: Make it tasty. Love what you do. Lots of seasoning.
