Wagga’s biggest club has unveiled a new bar, just in time for one of the world’s biggest sporting events, the Super Bowl.

Named The Social, the new bar built above the club’s popular lawn bowls greens was unveiled this week.

The Social is the only space at the RSL that allows patrons to enjoy food and drink both indoors and outdoors.

Club general manager Wayne Mutton said the major focus of the new venue was to give patrons a place to socialise in a casual setting while also enjoying live sport and entertainment.

“The Social is a game-changer for us,” Mr Mutton said.

“It’s a space designed with our patrons in mind — somewhere comfortable, welcoming and vibrant, where people can relax, socialise and really enjoy their time at the club. We’re incredibly excited about what this means for our members and the broader community.”

Mr Mutton said the new space looked to offer a relaxing yet stylish space for patrons to enjoy socialising while watching televised sport and entertainment.

“The new space features a striking six-metre sports screen, a stylish new bar, cosy booth seating and a stunning glass ceiling that floods the area with natural light, creating a welcoming atmosphere from day through to night,” Mr Mutton said.

“There will be a focus on the screening of major and special events in The Social, including iconic occasions such as the Super Bowl, NRL in Las Vegas and the AFC Women’s Asian Cup, providing a premium shared viewing experience.”

Marketing manager Jo Thomas said the club was proud to be building and supporting its membership base.

“We have over 34,000 members, and we’re continuing to find ways to deliver and provide a quality venue for them,” she said.

“The RSL continues to grow and adapt. We see travellers from all across the country who visit the club each year, and it’s important to us that when people visit, they know they are receiving high quality, whether that’s the food and drink, the facilities and even the bowling greens.

“The opening of The Social reflects Wagga RSL Club’s continued investment in its facilities and its commitment to providing high-quality spaces that bring people together.”

The Social will be open every day from 8 am, with bar service available Monday to Thursday for lunch and dinner, and Friday to Sunday from 10 am to 10:30 pm.

The official opening to the public is this Thursday (5 February).
