A Wagga man has claimed a staggering $1.6 million after winning the Division 1 jackpot during Saturday night’s (3 January) Lotto Draw.

After placing his winning numbers online, the unnamed Riverina resident was one of 18 winners across the country who claimed $1.6 million as part of draw 4639.

The lucky winner said he was oblivious to the fact that he had won and that it wasn’t until he received the call from The Lott the following day.

The Wagga Wagga man has been left speechless by the revelation that he’s now a millionaire, stating that he doesn’t play very often.

“Bloody oath. I don’t know what to say,” he said when he got the call.

“Good stuff! Thank you very much. Sensational!

“I had no idea. I’ve just been having a quiet morning.

“I only play every now and then. When there’s a big one, I’ll give it a go!

“The family is celebrating around me. This will do a fair bit. I’ll be able to clean up a few debts, pay off the mortgage, and enjoy some of the finer things in life.”

The man’s winning 25-game QuickPick entry was purchased via The Lott app

The winning numbers in Saturday Lotto draw 4639 on 3 January 2026 were 19, 36, 21, 10, 9 and 13, while the supplementary numbers were 39 and 2.

The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 225 so far this financial year, including 70 won by NSW Lotteries customers.

The Wagga man becomes the third Riverina recipient to have claimed a Lotto win since the beginning of 2025.

These winnings are tax-free because the Australian Tax Office (ATO) defines them as a windfall gain not subject to income tax.

To win Division One, you need to match all six winning numbers in a single game panel.

The chances of winning division one in Saturday Lotto, based on one standard game, are 1 in 8,145,060, according to the website of The Lott, which runs Australian lotteries.
