A spectacular wall mural by Newcastle-based street artist Jordan Lucky has been unveiled at Darlington Point’s War Memorial Swimming Pool.
The eye-catching artwork celebrates the area’s unique landscape and biodiversity, bringing native birds, bees and local flora to life. Murrumbidgee Council says it’s turned a drab facade into a bold visual feature that builds community pride, strengthens local identity and adds to Darlington Point’s tourism appeal.
Featuring locally significant wildlife, including the vulnerable superb parrot, crimson ‘yellow’ rosella, dollarbird and native bees, the mural is set among detailed wildflowers and golden wattles. A subtle riverbank silhouette and river red gums provide a gentle nod to the nearby Murrumbidgee River.

It’s been completed in time for Christmas and was funded by an anonymous donor.
Murrumbidgee Mayor Ruth McRae OAM said the council was thrilled with the creation.
“The pool is a much-loved destination for locals and visitors,” Mayor McRae said.
“Free pool entry is a fantastic drawcard for families and travellers.
“The pool will even be open on Christmas Day, with patrons invited to join in a relaxed group lunch from 1 to 2 pm. We are also looking forward to the town pool party with a giant inflatable on 7 January 2026, which will be a fun way for the community to enjoy summer together,” she said.

Darlington Point War Memorial Swimming Pool is located on Stock Street and open every weekday except Monday from 6 to 10 am and 1 to 7 pm, and on the weekends from 9 am to 7 pm. Entry is free. Children under 14 years must be supervised by an adult.
