A 30-year-old suspended learner has been detected allegedly driving with cannabis and methamphetamine in their system in the Murrumbidgee region.
At about 2:20 pm on Friday (21 November), Griffith Highway Patrol police were conducting patrols on Kidman Way in Darlington Point, where they stopped a black Holden Captiva for roadside testing and a licence inspection.
The driver disclosed to police he did not have a licence, and subsequent checks confirmed the driver was the holder of a New South Wales learner licence, which was currently suspended for a drink driving offence. Police also confirmed the vehicle being driven at the time was unregistered.
The driver was subjected to drug and alcohol testing, which allegedly returned a positive result for cannabis and methamphetamine.
The driver was arrested, and a sample of his oral fluid has been forwarded to New South Wales Police Laboratories for analysis.

The driver was issued a court attendance notice for driving whilst suspended and will be required to attend Griffith Local Court. Action will be taken in relation to the illicit drugs present in the driver’s oral fluid when the sample obtained from the driver is analysed.
In relation to the use of an unregistered vehicle, the driver was issued penalty notices carrying a combined fine of $1688.
