Australian tennis star and former Australian Open Doubles Champion Nick Kyrgios is set to visit popular Wagga brewery The Thirsty Crow later this week.

The 2022 Wimbledon singles finalist will be at the Thirsty Crow this Saturday from 12:30 to 5:30 pm for a meet and greet and will also be playing games of tennis with local kids.

Kyrgios became a household name in Australia in 2014 when he defeated the then World No.1 Rafael Nadal in four sets during the fourth round of that year’s Wimbledon tournament at just 19 years of age.

Since then Kyrgios has won seven singles ATP titles and more than $12.5 million USD in prize money. Kyrgios achieved his highest singles ranking in 2019, when he was ranked 13th in the world.

His greatest achievement on the tennis court came in 2022 at the Australian Open, when he and fellow Australian Thanasi Kokkinakis won the final of the men’s doubles.

In October 2024 Kyrgios began a partnership with Stryder Brewing Co., the parent company of the Thirsty Crow, becoming a brand ambassador for the company.

Thirsty Crow venue manager Jack Sisson said he was expecting a few hundred people to visit the brewery across the five-hour event.

“To have someone of Nick’s talent coming through is really exciting,” Mr Sisson said.

“Wagga is known as the city of good sports, so to have someone as successful as Nick come and visit, it really is amazing.

“We’re hoping to get a lot of traction for the event. Nick is obviously from Canberra, so it’s nice to see him make the trip a few hours down.

“We’ve paired up with the brand new Jim Elphick Tennis Centre, and we’ve spread the word to around 5000/6000 people. If we can sort of get a couple of 100 out of that, some kids who are really keen to play a bit of tennis with Nick, then yeah, we’ll consider it a win.”

Jack said the brewery would be setting up mini tennis courts in the Thirsty Crow carpark and holding a tournament for kids to play in.

Tennis fans will also get the chance to ask Nick questions about his experiences on tour and playing on some of the biggest courts in the world.

“There will be a Q&A, time for a meet and greet, as well as a chance to get some stuff signed,” Mr Sisson said.

“It’s going to be a bit of fun, and we hope the community really gets behind welcoming one of Australia’s brightest sporting stars.

Nick Kyrgios will be at the Thirsty Crow from 12:30 to 5:30 pm on Saturday. It is a free event.
