There’s a whole lot going on in the Riverina this week, from food and wine festivals to productions of classic musicals, stand-up comedy, town shows and more.
Griffith’s Citrus Sculptures Festival is one of the Riverina’s most bizarre and beloved yearly events, bringing together 800 volunteers to fashion sculptures in just about any shape you can imagine, all from oranges and grapefruits.
The Whitton Malt House hosts Oktoberfest, with a full afternoon of great food, German beer, games, live music and all sorts of entertainment.
And the North East Food and Wine Festival showcases the best food and wine of the Riverina, with plenty of exciting delicacies on offer.

North East Food and Wine Festival

The North East Food and Wine Festival is bringing heaps of local food and wine together in a great showcase of local produce.
Come check out the three-day program schedule, which includes tastings, cooking workshops, wine masterclasses, pizza making classes, degustation courses, date nights and special dinners.
In addition to special events, there will be plenty of restaurants, bars, beer gardens and desserts. There will also be live music across the weekend as well as kids events and face painting.

Get ready for a night of frivolity at the Albury Entertainment Centre as one of the most beloved musicals of all time wows audiences with an energetic performance.
Sweethearts Brad and Janet are travelling when they cross paths with a bizarre cast of otherworldly characters, holding a party in their secluded castle, which seems to cross all boundaries.
A sensation when it first came on stage more than 50 years ago, The Rocky Horror Show has been an icon of subversive entertainment for half a century and it has lost none of its power to shock and entertain.
Theatre goers are welcome to dress up.
Be advised that due to the content of the production, The Rocky Horror Show is not recommended for those under the age of 12.

Griffith Citrus Sculptures Festival

Around 800 volunteers assembled on Griffith’s main street to fashion 100,000 oranges and grapefruits into 60 sculptures on 12 October in a fun public exhibition/festival which fashions oranges into carrots, pianos, dollar signs, koalas, guitars and more.
The annual displays, sponsored by the Real Juice Company and Griffith City Council, were erected for the 28th time and will remain on Banna Avenue until Saturday 25 October.

Garabari at the Wagga Civic Theatre

Inspired by Corroboree, Garabari is a contemporary dance celebration inviting audiences to be part of a fun, large-scale dance performance.
This work began as a cultural connection with the Wiradjuri community to create a new dance that celebrates the power of ritual to transfer knowledge and strengthen communities through shared experience.
It invites viewers to experience a unique kind of community through movement, alongside multimedia elements such as smoke effects, eucalyptus scents, dynamic lighting and innovative sound.

After the roaring success of last year’s event, the Whitton Malt House is hosting another Oktoberfest, transforming the joint into a Bavarian beer hall for one full arvo of live music, great food, rich beer and games.
The first beer is free and will be served in a take-home stein. There will be live entertainment from a German band, great German treats and meals, games, contests and prizes for the best dressed. Come celebrate Oktoberfest the right way at the Whitton Malt House.

Junee Show

The Junee Show has been part of the community for more than 125 years and it’s survived that long because it’s an excellent day out for the whole family, with plenty of activities for everyone.
This year’s show will have animal exhibitions, pavilions, a bushman’s relay, showgirl events and a sideshow alley, with plenty of assorted entertainment and activities throughout the day.

The Wagga Classic Car Show ‘n’ Shine is back this weekend.
Organised by Wagga GM and Holden Car Club, this car show brings together interesting automotives and motorbikes from local enthusiasts and collectors. All sorts of cars will be present from classics to Aussie icons and suped-up tuners.
All proceeds are donated to the local charity, Vilomah, a community organisation dedicated to ensuring that mothers or families who lose a child receive the support they need.

A Common Thread – Meeting for creatives

Common Thread is a monthly meeting for creatives, makers, diarists and everything in between that encourages people to get together, discuss their crafts and do them together.
