The extraordinary life of Griffith paediatrician Professor Maxwell Hopp will be honoured at a service open to the public in Griffith later this month.
The much loved doctor, who treated thousands of Riverina children over the past 26 years, died in a tragic accident on Friday 26 September 2025.
His family has invited those wishing to pay tribute to the Professor to join them at 2 pm on Wednesday 22 October 2025 at the Piccolo Family Farm on Mallison Road near Lake Wyangan.
Further details on logistics will be provided closer to the date.
“If you’re able to attend, we suggest you bring/wear sun protection as there is likely to be quite a number of attendees and some will need to be outside,” his daughter Dagney Hopp said.
Ms Hopp has requested that no flowers be brought to the service or sent to the family home.
“If you wish to make a donation to honour his life and his work, please donate to a children’s charity of your choice,” she said.
Some ideas suggested by the family include:
Save The Children – a development and aid agency that helps children all around the world.
Make-a-Wish Foundation – an Australian charity that grants wishes to terminally ill children.
Royal Far West – a mental health not-for-profit that provides services to children in rural, western NSW towns such as Griffith.
“Thank you to everyone, for all your support and kindness you have shown to our family at this terrible time,” Ms Hopp said.
