A man allegedly caught doing burnouts in Leeton will face court after police found out that his driver’s licence was disqualified at the time.
At about 12:30 am on Saturday (4 October), Police from Leeton Police Station stopped a 28-year-old male driver in response to reports that a Holden Commodore vehicle had been conducting burnouts – a manoeuvre where a car’s wheels spin rapidly but the vehicle remains stationary or near-stationary. He was also alleged to have been driving dangerously in the area.
The male driver was found by police and asked if his vehicle held a current registration, to which he stated, “I think it does”.
However, police checks revealed the Holden was unregistered.
Police also asked the man if he held a current licence, to which he replied, “I think so”.
Further searches confirmed the man’s driver’s licence was endorsed as disqualified until mid-2026.
The man was subsequently issued with infringement notices and an attendance notice to appear before Leeton Local Court.
