A 30-year-old Tharbogang man has allegedly tested positive for driving under the influence of drugs after being spotted by a NSW Police helicopter.

At about 1:55 pm on Wednesday (27 August), the NSW Police Airwing (POLAIR) was flying over Griffith when it sighted a white Toyota Avalon on Scenic Drive in Beelbangera, driving in an erratic manner.

POLAIR then radioed police vehicles on the ground to inform them of what they had seen. Police cars located the Avalon on Beelbangera Road, where the driver was stopped and asked to present his driver’s licence.

He was subjected to a roadside breath test, which returned a negative result.

The driver was then subjected to an oral fluid test, which allegedly produced a positive detection to cannabis.

The Tharbogang man was subjected to a second oral fluid test, which allegedly returned a positive test for the recreational drug. The driver was issued a 24-hour prohibition from driving notice.
