Riverina childcare worker charged with assault after allegedly spraying girl with garden hose

A Riverina childcare worker has been charged with assault after allegedly spraying a child with a hose.

On Thursday 5 December 2024, officers attached to Murray River Police District commenced investigations following reports a five-year-old girl had been assaulted at an early learning centre in Deniliquin.

It will be alleged that on two separate occasions in November 2024, the child had water sprayed on her from a garden hose.

Following inquiries, a 27-year-old woman was issued a Court Attendance Notice last Sunday (24 August 2025) and charged with two counts of assault school student while attending school.

She is set to appear before Deniliquin Local Court on Wednesday 15 October 2025.
