A man will face court over multiple alleged fraud offences near Wagga.
On Thursday 26 June, Rural Crime Investigators attached to the Riverina Police District commenced an investigation following reports of an alleged fraud in relation to the purchase of a horse.
Police were told a 40-year-old woman paid an amount of a deposit to a man known to sell horses, on Friday 30 May.
However, the horse was never received and attempts to recover the deposit were unsuccessful.
Following inquiries, at about 10:40 am on Wednesday (30 July), officers attached to Rural Crime Prevention Team arrested a 49-year-old man in The Rock area, about 32 km southwest of Wagga Wagga.
Checks alleged the man was involved in a fail to pay offence at a motel in Wagga Wagga in June.
He was taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station where he was charged with dishonestly obtaining financial advantage etc by deception (three counts); and breach of bail.
Police will allege in court the money was obtained fraudulently and used for alternative purposes.
He was refused bail to appear at Bail Division Court on Thursday.
