A man has been charged with murder after the death of another man in Ashmont earlier this week.
Emergency services were called to a home in Ashmont after receiving a concern for a welfare report at about 5 pm on Thursday (11 August).
A 52-year-old man was found inside the house suffering from serious injuries. He later died at the scene.
Following inquiries, a second man was located a short distance away with head injuries. He was taken to Wagga Base Hospital under a police guard.
Officers from Riverina Police District established a crime scene and commenced Strike Force Bulba in consultation with the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad to investigate the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.
Following inquiries, the 49-year-old man was released from hospital and then arrested and taken to Wagga Police Station on Saturday (13 August).
He was charged with murder and refused bail to appear in Wagga Bail Court on Sunday (14 August).
Investigations under Strike Force Bulba are ongoing.
