An 18-year-old died on the weekend after a motorcycle accident in Rankins Springs, a small town about 66 km north of Griffith in the Riverina.
At about 10:30 am on Saturday, emergency services were called to the scene of a crash involving two motorbikes on an unnamed dirt track near Nancarrows Lane.
Officers from the Murrumbidgee Police District were told a male rider, believed to be 18, collided with another motorbike, ridden by a man in his thirties.
Despite the efforts of Ambulance Paramedics and first responders, the 18-year-old male could not be revived.
The other rider was treated at the scene for cuts, abrasions and a sprained shoulder. He was later airlifted and conveyed to Wagga Base Hospital for further treatment.
Police have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Officers will prepare a report for the information of the Coroner regarding the man’s death.
