It is beginning to feel and look a lot like Christmas across the Riverina and families are spoilt for choice for celebrations this year.
There will be several festive season events kicking off this week in Wagga, Leeton and Griffith that offer activities for the whole family.
We’ve got Carols by Candlelight in Wagga, Christmas Carnival in Leeton and the Christmas Hams Carnival in Griffith.
The always popular River and Wren handmade market returns to the Wagga showgrounds on Sunday to the excitement of people across the region, plus the Riverina Producers Market.
There’s also a Christmas toy run and a Griffith sidewalk sale.
Folk musician, singer, guitarist and banjo player, Matt Sier will be performing live at The Curious Rabbit.
Moana 2 is still going strong at Forum 6 Cinemas.
The Wagga Aus-Sri Lanka Cultural Association is inviting everyone to its annual cultural show.

Friday
Carols by Candlelight: A Christmas Spectacular

Join in the fun and festivities of one of Wagga’s favourite Christmas traditions – Carols by Candlelight at the Wagga Wagga Music Bowl.
The festivities begin with pre-show entertainment showcasing talented roving circus performers and Disney characters.
Griffith Rotary Christmas Hams Carnival & Glow2680
When: Friday 6 December, 5 to 9 pm
Where: Memorial Park, 363 Banna Ave, Griffith
Cost: Free.
Join Griffith Rotary Club for its annual Christmas Hams Carnival. There will be entertainment from local singer Lorraine Sutton and kids activities including face painting and crafts from Griffith City Library. Visitors can purchase sausage sandwiches, ice creams and drinks from Griffith Rotary Club Avanti and raffle tickets for a chance to win Christmas hams. Santa will be visiting from 7:15 pm and helping light up Banna Avenue and Memorial Park from 7:30 pm for Glow2680 Light Up Griffith.
Saturday
Annual Cultural Show and Rhythm Rejoice Dinner Dance

Join the Wagga Aus-Sri Lanka Cultural Association for its annual cultural show. The event will feature a dinner dance for the first time and a fantastic display of Sri Lankan songs, dances, and acts performed by community members, including the students of the Wagga Wagga Sinhala School.
As part of the special night, enjoy a delicious dinner.
Wagga Toy Run
When: Saturday 7 December, 9 am to 1 pm
Where: Jubilee Park Wagga Wagga
Cost: Monetary donation or new toys.
All licensed riders with registered motorcycles are welcome to join in the fun at the Wagga Toy Run this weekend. Riders are to turn up at Jubliee Park with a new toy as a donation or with a monetary donation.
Griffith Sidewalk Sale
When: Saturday 7 December, 9 am to 2 pm
Where: Banna Avenue
Cost: Free.
Griffith City Council is working with local retailers in the CBD to re-introduce the annual Christmas Sidewalk Sale, where items will be on sale outdoors along the town’s main street. It’s a chance to get your Christmas shopping done and support local businesses. You can also put your entries in at a number of featured companies to go in the draw to win a $500 voucher or one of five $100 vouchers to spend at a participating store.

River and Wren Market

The River and Wren Market is a beautiful indoor country market held six times a year in the heart of Wagga. It offers a diverse range of the best on-trend handmade, homemade and homegrown products the region has to offer. More than 100 market shops are hosted at each market and regularly attract about 4000 visitors.
Light up Leeton concert
When: Sunday 8 December, 5:30 to 10 pm
Where: Mountford Park, 4 Jarrah Street, Leeton
Cost: Free.
Light Up Leeton is a Christmas carnival and community concert that sees local homeowners and businesses come together to celebrate the festive season. Following an evening of singing and events in the park, locals and visitors alike are invited to take a drive to see 200 or more homes lit up in celebration of the season.
